Samara stood at the window, hands rested on her stomach. She hated the weather with a passion, and the baby growing inside of her wasn't helping her mood. Everything seemed so bleak. Sighing, Samara sat on the couch, laying down and making herself comfortable. She knew that it was all so silly, but she couldn't help herself. Regardless of the act she was putting on, she was growing terrified of the life she was helping to bring into the cruel, cruel world. It was nearing the year anniversary of her brother's death, and it was frightening to think about.
Samara had done her best to recover after watching Silas die. She'd been too late to save her twin, and, since then, life hasn't quite had the same meaning. Yes, she loved Blake, and had indulged in his wildest fantasies, and in her own as well. But, that had only led to the pregnancy. Samara knew that she should love her child, but the thought of bringing a sweet, innocent baby boy or girl into the world was horrifying. It was an evil, evil place, and to bring such goodness, willingly, into such an environment made Samara sick to her stomach.
Lying there, hands on her swollen stomach, Samara sighed. She loved the unborn child instinctively, but she hated that it had to come into such a dark world. It wasn't fair. Samara had never felt more guilty in her entire life. Even when she had been stealing from her father, when she'd been lying to her siblings and parents, she hadn't felt as guilty as she did at that moment. She was knowingly bringing a child into a world, the equivalent of condemning he or she to a potentially horrible and gruesome death...
